Starfield Disk Squisher
An idea from Karen (Starfield on LE), this disk squisher allows you to form up your disk beads straight and even.
Slide the plates on either side of your disk, with the mandrel running through the slots and squish gently to form up your disk.
A thumbscrew allows you to set a repeatable thickness when squishing. The handles are designed to bring the slotted plates parallel at about 3/16" wide. This can be adjusted with gentle bending of the handles.
These squishers are made with brass rather than steel handles. The brass handles make the tool much easier to squeeze that steel handles, there is a down side. The extra flexibility means you can't apply as much force to manhandle cold glass. You can't just make a fat bead and squish it into a disk. These squishers are more for forming up and straightening a disk. Just something to be aware of.
The standard slot width is 5/32" which is good for 1/16" and 3/32" mandrels. If you use 1/8" mandrels, I can make 3/16" slotted plates. Please email me for details and availablility.
Specifications: All stainless steel and brass construction with high temperature rubber handle padding. The plates are 2" square. 13" in overall length.
Availability: Out of stock. No more expected to be made. Sorry.
