New shapes, and improved usability!
Part of the Multi-Mandrel System, the Grooved Cabochon Insert holds your glass on the perimiter of the glass shape. Squish it with mashers or a marver, and you get a groove for adding a string or wire wrapping.
In this picture you can see the groove, and how cord or wire fits into the groove.
Each half of the mandrel fits into the Multi-Mandrel and locks into place. Fill in the inside with glass, and mash it to push the glass out around the inserts to create the groove.
Remove the inserts and the cabochon from the Multi-Mandrel Handle.
Remove the inserts from the cabochon to reveal the groove. The directions give tips on removing the inserts and cleaning the groove.
From left to right, Heart, Teardrop, Square, Circle, Oval, Triangle
Patent Pending
Specifications: Made of stainless steel.
Skill Level: It is fairly easy to make grooved cabochons with these inserts. However, it takes quite a bit of coaxing and patience to get a grooved cabochon with an groove of even depth. If you can make beads any shape you want freehand you shouldn't have too much trouble.
Requirements: You must have the Multi-Mandrel Handle to use these inserts.
You need one handle for every insert you want to use during a torching session. You can't remove an insert while hot.
Availability: In stock.
