For a long time bead holes have been straight, and our bodies curved. Necks and wrists are curved. We should be able to make curved beads to match. Now you can!
This is an idea I had that I couldn't just let die. After several prototypes and months of experimentation, I finally have something that will work.
You can remove the bead because there is a constant curvature. Instead of twisting the bead off, you have to push it "around the bend".
Here is a view of several curved beads on a string.
You should also take a look at the Curved Focal Press from Zooziis.
Specifications: Made of 1/8" diameter stainless steel. Will make beads up to 3" long. Overall length of 11"
Skill Level: For the very experienced. You can't just rotate and melt to get a nice shape. You have to coax and adjust to get a nice tube.
After you have made a nice shape, you have to get it off the mandrel. Again, this is harder than usual, but I provide directions.
This is a tough mandrel to use, but I think the results can be worth it. As always, if it doesn't work out for you, please return it for a full refund.
Requirements: You must have an easy-to-release bead release. So far only FOSTER FIRE REGULAR has worked reliably for me. I love Fusion FPI for my other mandrels, but it holds too well for these mandrels. My customers have also had success with BOM, Kragg Mudd, and Zipz.
You will also need Vise-Grips to hold the mandrel while removing the bead.
Availability: Out of stock.
However, you can order them from Zooziis
Check out what customers have made with these!
